Reflection
Day 1
After I heard about some other definitions of learning, I focused on mine and started to explore different aspects of learning. I believe that learning involves not just acquiring knowledge, but also comprehending and remembering it and with our conversations, I ended up thinking learning follows a change in the individual's skills, behaviour and personality.
Day 2
Today we worked on our educational beliefs as teachers and I discovered that I align with the self-actualizer and social reconstructionist perspectives based on my choices. It wasn't very surprising to me since I really do focus on helping my students to reach their full potential and also I try to include ecological concerns and responsibilities in my lessons. However, there was a huge gap between my other scores in technology and cognitive processing. This realisation gave me a new perspective on considering how best to incorporate all these aspects into my approach, recognizing their significance in the holistic development of each student.
Day 3
Finding out what my coworkers thought and how they perceived Mr. Noyes and Ms. Friendly was interesting. For instance, one of my coworkers reminded Ms. Friendly of the value of learning from one another by suggesting classroom observations. Seeing how a colleague approaches things, drawing inspiration from his/her methods, and developing some new perspectives can all help us learn a lot.
Also, the sharing circle conversations and materials we shared were clear evidence of how we learn differently. It was interesting to see how many different perspectives come together even in our discussions and made me think of how I expect my preschoolers to learn at the same level from one standard lesson.
Day 4
We discussed why it is necessary to approach tasks in different ways so that they make sense to each student, and how this helps students improve their own strengths and creates a more equitable and successful learning environment for everyone. I worked on my weekly plan to see how can I make some differentiations to reach all of my students in many meaningful ways.
Day 5
During our conversation, we discussed the wide-ranging applications of artificial intelligence, delving into its use in developing lesson plans and other educational resources. Additionally, we explored a variety of websites.
I also had the chance to think about the comprehensiveness of flex and constricted verbs we use in the learning objectives and I checked my plans to see the language I used. We reviewed our different approaches to incorporating diverse perspectives into our curriculum.
Day 6
We discussed effective differentiation strategies such as flexible deadlines, extension activities, assessing prior knowledge, and offering options for transferable knowledge. Also, allowing students to demonstrate understanding in ways that align with their strengths can greatly enhance their learning experience. Using technology tools that children are already familiar with, such as educational videos or interactive games, can also increase their engagement and motivation, especially among preschoolers.
